Event Details

The Hydrogen Working Group is a focused interest group under the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS), aiming to bring together experts and key players to provide vision, direction and guidance in the development and implementation of hydrogen projects in and outside Singapore. This is in line with Singapore's Net Zero ambitions by 2050.


The Hydrogen Working Group committee is chaired by Vipul Tuli.

    Kavita Gandhi has an extensive background in environment and developmental sector spanning over last 20 years. Kavita has been involved in multi-dimensional projects like United States Asia Environmental Partnership (US-AEP) and was Instrumental in setting up of Clean Technology Environmental Management Centre (CTEM) in the Singapore Manufacturer’s Association. She has experience working with environmental sector startups and SMEs in her capacity as a manager of the Singapore Association for Environmental Companies (SAFECO). Kavita was one of the key personnel involved in setting up the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore and securing a grant from SPRING Singapore to run programs in the area of local enterprise development, market development and training & conferences for clean energy industry. She also represents the association in various government and non-government committees related to clean energy. She was instrumental in developing and managing some unique programs like the SME Energy Efficiency outreach as well cleantech incubator. Kavita has an MSc in Environmental Management from Wye College, University of London.

    Driven by her ambition to contribute to the clean energy transition, Kaisa took on the role of CEO at Rotoboost in 2021. The startup specializes in cutting-edge technology that converts waste gas and natural gas into valuable clean energy and hydrogen solutions for industrial applications. Her dedication to the company’s mission led her to settle in China, where she has been instrumental in Rotoboost’s rapid growth.

    With her strong technical acumen and exceptional leadership, Kaisa and her team have positioned Rotoboost as a global leader in clean energy, forging partnerships with multinational energy and steelmaking giants.     Assistant Manager, E&T Hydrogen at Sembcorp

    Yan Tyng is part of Sembcorp’s Global Hydrogen Business Engineering & Technology team. He first joined Sembcorp’s R&D and Innovation department in 2019 before moving to the Global Hydrogen team.

    Yan Tyng has close to 6 years of experience in the exploration and evaluation of technologies, particularly hydrogen and decarbonization related technologies, across various industries and applications. He has managed various R&D and pilot projects, with a focus on identifying and developing technologies for commercial scale applications.

    Yan Tyng holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from National University of Singapore (NUS).

    Vipul Tuli

    Chairman, South Asia, CEO, Hydrogen Business of Sembcorp

    Mr Tuli oversees Sembcorp’s investments and key stakeholder relationships in India and Bangladesh. He is concurrently the CEO of Sembcorp’s newly created global Hydrogen Business since January 6, 2023.

    Mr Tuli has 30 years of experience in the energy sector. Prior to Sembcorp, he was a senior partner with McKinsey & Company where he helped to build and lead its Asian energy practice. He has also advised government institutions on issues of energy policy, organisation, industry structure, and regulation.

    Mr Tuli holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and completed his post graduate studies in business management from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta.

    Tony has a PhD in Engineering Science and a master’s degree in law. Tony has more than 16 years of experiences advising governments, IOCs, NOCs, industrial emitters (steel, cement, fertilizer etc.), power companies and financial institutions regarding CCUS and climate change matters. His recent roles include senior technical adviser and senior engagement lead with the Global CCS Institute and project consultant with the Asian Development Bank supporting ADB technical assistance projects in developing nations. He served as an expert adviser on CCUS strategy for the Australian Government and as an advisory board member for the Asia CCUS Network. He has collaborated with prominent international organizations (e.g., IEA, OECD, ASEAN, APEC) on various energy transition topics. He published articles in the Financial Times and academic journals.
