IES will once again be organizing the IES Charles Rudd Distinguished Public Lectures on 17 Feb 2022 (Thursday) from 10am-1pm. The Lecture titled 'Circular and Digital Economy: Role of Engineering Innovations' aims toprovide insights and provoke thoughts on five key areas: Climate Change, Sustainability, Carbon-Neutral Economy, Society 5.0 and Resilience. While the Circular Economy offers new ways to create a more sustainable economic growth model, digitalisation will provide the means to optimise resources used by the industry. It is time to instil responsible consumption, prudent resource allocation and smart production as the new normal going forward. A major societal reform, from an Information Society, facilitated by the technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution, to a new 'Society 5.0' driven by a human-centric approach, with high degree of convergence between cyber space and physical space, is essential.
