Solar Fundamentals is a 1 day workshop which will provide participants with insights to both the upstream (manufacturing and technology) and downstream (policies and installations) of the solar industry.
The industry is entering a new chapter with significant improvements in panel generation output (500W+ / 600W+) and the spotlight on solar has never been brighter due to its fit with ESG objectives.
Solar is the most inclusive and accessible form of renewable energy and the course will seek to shed light on what it is exactly (benefits and shortcomings) and provide participants with a greater appreciation and understanding of this renewable energy source.
Objectives
The course will provide participants with an understanding on:
<UPSTREAM>
ยท The basics behind the 4 critical components of polysilicon, wafers, solar cells and panels
ยท The technological developments and roadmaps of these 4 components
ยท How protectionist trade policies have resulted in the current manufacturing landscape consolidating into China
ยท Potential key global policies that could diversify the supply chain back out from China
ยท Who are the key players in the supply chain are.
<DOWNSTREAM>
ยท Singapore's approach to local solar deployment
- Policies, frameworks and initiatives to encourage adoption
- Challenges faced in adoption / deployment
ยท Singapore's role as a regional leader in 'non-utility' scale deployment testbed.
ยท Insights on regional policy direction and developments
