Financing of Renewable Energy

Mr. Jonathan Chong is a seasoned Cleantech professional who has over 7 years of both private and public sector experience in the solar industry in Southeast Asia. Jonathan worked at a regional solar IPP, where he worked on commercial rooftop solar executing complex projects with multinational clients. He was also the Chief Financial Officer at LYS Energy, a regional solar IPP. Jonathan oversaw LYS Energy’s corporate finance, corporate strategy and investor relations, as well as developed over 10MWp of rooftop solar in the region, executing complex projects with clients such as Rolls Royce, DHL and Heineken.

Prior to joining LYS, Jonathan spent four years in the Singapore government. He was a core member of the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) Cleantech team that drove the development of the renewable energy sector in Singapore. During his time at EDB, Jonathan successfully negotiated and structured significant foreign solar investments in Singapore and worked on increasing solar adoption in Singapore. Jonathan also spent a year in the Regional Development Team of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).


Jonathan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Government and Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Master’s degree in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University.
